A Granola alternative that transcribes on your device
Granola and jotty.pro agree on one thing: no bot should join your meeting. They differ on where the audio goes. Granola sends it to cloud providers to transcribe and summarize. jotty.pro, in the membership, transcribes in your browser on your device, and it runs in a browser tab, so there is no app to install.

Where they differ
Local versus cloud
Granola is bot-free, but its transcription and summaries run in the cloud through providers such as Deepgram, AssemblyAI, OpenAI and Anthropic. If your rule is "this audio does not go to a cloud provider", jotty.pro's on-device mode is built for that. If you do want a cloud model for a hard call, you choose the provider and use your own key.
Checking the summary against the source
Summaries miss details. Granola deletes the raw audio after transcribing; jotty.pro keeps the recording and the full transcript with every note, so you can check what was actually said.
Install and platforms
Granola is a native app. jotty.pro is a tab in Chrome or Edge on Mac, Windows or Linux, which also means nothing to roll out on a locked-down work laptop.
When Granola is the better choice
- You want polished AI notes on your phone as well as your laptop.

When jotty.pro fits better
- Audio from client, legal or board calls shouldn't go to a cloud provider by default.
- You want to keep the full recording, not only the notes.
